Navigating Risks in DeFi

Identify, Assess, and Mitigate

Decentralized Finance Risks.

Thursday 28, March 2024 - 1pm to 4pm GMT

Workshop Overview

"Navigating Risks in DeFi" is a 3-hour workshop aimed at deepening participants' understanding of risks associated with Decentralized Finance (DeFi). By immersing ourselves in the rapidly evolving world of DeFi, we will equip you with practical knowledge and foundational skills to identify, assess, and mitigate risks in this space.

The workshop utilizes the Enterprise Ethereum Alliance's (EEA) DeFi Risk Assessment Guidelines - a framework for evaluating risks across DeFi protocols, smart contracts, data protocols, and more. These guidelines were developed through extensive collaboration between over 35 industry leaders from organizations including Consensys, DTCC, EY, SAP, OpenZeppelin, Hacken, and DeFi Safety, who contributed hundreds of hours of expertise.

The workshop covers key risk categories such as smart contract, oracle, governance, incentive, and financial risks and discusses real-world case studies that demonstrate the impact these risks can have if left unmanaged.

By the end of the workshop, you will have the knowledge needed to determine your organization’s DeFi risk appetite, conduct due diligence on DeFi products and services, and develop appropriate risk mitigation strategies. Whether you’re currently exposed to DeFi or have plans to take advantage of the innovations in this space, developing risk fluency is a critical step for institutional adopters.

Workshop duration: 3 hours

Workshop purpose: The goal is to introduce and equip attendees with the tools and knowledge to identify, assess, and effectively mitigate the unique risks inherent in DeFi.

Workshop Lead: Chaals Neville, Technical Programs Director at the EEA and invited experts who contributed to producing the EEA DeFi Risk Assessment Guidelines: https://entethalliance.org/specs/drafts/defi-risks/20230116/
